Barrie Residents Can Now Name their Neighbourhoods
Source: Barrie's Historic Neighbourhood Strategy
An innovative initiative launched by the City, the Historic Neighbourhoods Strategy, will paint a portrait of each neighbourhood, setting the vision, sense of neighbourhood identity, local values and priorities. It will document community change and transition, the challenges to be found and the need for infrastructure renewal. It will also look at current cultural, recreation and social services, facilities and programs, and anticipated future needs as well as issues regarding crime and security, property standards and heritage preservation.
Part of this unique initiative, is the "Name Your Neighourhood" contest where residents can submit names that they would like to see their neighbourhood named. The strategy will focus on neighbourhoods identified on the Historic Neighbourhoods map. Opportunities to participate will include surveys, events, forums, open houses, and much more.
